Hamble School is organised into Four communities with a Non- Teaching member of staff heading up each one. Each community Leader then has a Secondary roll within the Team, although all members perform each others function as and when required.
Organisation The Student services office is located next to Welfare and is staffed at all times by at least one Community Leader and Two or Three support staff. This applies at Break and Lunchtime and after School until 4pm. The result of this is that no Student will be turned away without having the ability to talk to a member of the Pastoral staff and the necessary action taken.
Targeted Groups As a School we have several groups aimed at Vulnerable Students and enable proactive work to take place. Young carers group, Young Women’s group, ELSA groups, Bully Busters
Monitoring Each Community leader meets with their Line manager weekly to discuss students at risk be it for behaviour, failure to thrive, Attendance or any other matter that may be affecting a student. Pastoral support plans can then be amended or assessed for their effectiveness.
Outside Agencies The Pastoral team meet on a weekly basis with the following Agencies EWO, Connexions, Family support social worker, Other Agencies are seen as and when required
Referrals All referrals are passed through to the Home College Liaison Officer who actions them and the monitors the progress and reports to each Community leader.
Promoting Positive Behaviour and Achievment The Community leaders also run the Young Leaders programme, Student Voice, and are the driving force behind the Merit and Reward system and Interact. Along with promoting Inter Community competition and pride in the School.
Summary: Student services endeavours to provide a Consistent level of support and advice to all pupils and to ensure that they can make informed decisions and thrive regardless of their Academic ability or Home circumstances.
